Winemaker's Notes
Rutherford Hill is a Terlato Family winery whose ambition is to produce great wines. For our Merlot, we adopted a centuries' old winemaking technique. First used in the 18th century, the technique calls for the addition of Syrah to the blend. Together with the Merlot, winemaker Marisa Taylor included Cabernet Sauvignon for structure, and Syrah for body, character, and heft. It is aged 16 months in French oak barrels in the tradition of the world's finest wines.
Lavish cherry fruit flavors are backed by a rich, balanced structure for an intensely complex Merlot. Silky, full-flavored, firm, and built for today’s enjoyment, the wine finishes with smooth tannins and intricate layers of flavor on the palate.
