Description
Region: Modina Province
Lambrusco di Modena is produced in and around Modena, a city located in north-central Italy and famous for producing balsamic vinegar and some of the world's most famous cars, including the Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Maserati. Modena lies in the heart of Emilia-Romagna's Lambrusco Zone.
In this wine region only Sorbara and Salamino grapes are permitted in the DOC designated wine. Lambrusco di Sorbana grapes tend to produce the highest quality Lambrusco. This grape variety has a tendency to drop its flowers, which reduces fruit yields and concentrates flavors. It currently includes roughly 420 members who own 613 hectares (~1,500 acres) of vineyards, with an average production of 10,000 tons of grapes or 1,000,000 bottles. The oenologist is Michele Rossetto.
