Winemaker's Notes

Translucent and bright ruby red color. Its appealing and fascinating nose immediately reveals the freshness of the vintage 2021 followed by hues of nutmeg and crisp red berries. On the palate it is well-hatched, generous and measured at the same time. It shows overall great balance between tannic texture and acidity. Perfectly enjoyable even young.

The winter of 2021 was very cold, with temperatures so low that bud break occurred a week later than had been the norm for previous years. Spring rainfall was plentiful. The vines bloomed in the final week of May. Summer began cool, and June and July went by without extreme heat. A large range in diurnal temperatures in the period prior to harvest allowed the grapes to mature slowly and steadily.

The 2021 Brunello Di Montalcino comes from a warm but not extreme growing season, helped by timely rain and a normal harvest window. It pours a deep ruby red hue and opens with black raspberries, violets, fresh earth, licorice, and rosemary. Medium to full-bodied, it feels more vertical and energetic than the 2020, with a bright spine of acidity, well-defined tannins, and a long, focused finish that stays light on its feet. Drink 2026-2040.

A glossy texture lends polish and shine to the mouthfeel, while the wine delivers medium-lean weight and moderate length with good brightness and freshness. Aging sees 42 months in large oak casks. This bottling represents the estate’s classic, multi-vineyard village expression, designed to balance consistency, accessibility and regional typicity. Production totals 94,800 bottles.
